Q: "Why does my dog chew everything?!"
A: A dog chews for a few different reason:
    1. Boredom. A lot of the time this has to do with his breeding. If your dog has been bred for hunting and he has nothing to fill his day (no game to catch or quarry to corner) they will chew.
    2. Anxiety. An anxious dog could be a result of bad breeding or early emotional problems. If a dog's personality is more on the submissive side, he doesn't like to be left alone and may suffer from separation anxiety. To battle his anxiety, they will resort to chewing.
    3. Teething. This takes place at about four months when the puppy is losing its milking teeth and cutting their adult teeth. It won't be until the sixth, or tenth month when the puppy's teeth set into its jaw. During this time, your young dog will want to exercise its jaw and chew.
To curb your pet from chewing on unwanted items it is essential you catch your puppy in the act. Casually walk over to your puppy, lean down and tug on its leash, if wearing one, and tell him "NO!" You don't want the puppy to pull away, you want your pet to make the choice to stop chewing. When it turns away from the chewed object, hand them one of its chew toys and give it praise and affection. If you happen upon an object already chewed upon, it's your fault not theirs, so avoid reprimanding them at that point.

Help your dog become the loving pet your family will grow to trust. Be sure to follow the directions on the bottle and have plenty of chew toys and praise ready for your dog!
